Round 7: 2025

Round 7 opened in August 2025 and we received a highest amount of applications – 71! Of these, 58 were eligible and 43 were chosen by our 30 community scorers to be funded. One group that was selected received funding elsewhere and generously turned down our grant so it could be used to support others.

A Space to Breathe – addressing racism and sexism, and the poor mental they health cause, by creating spaces for Black women to come together in nature, with music, sharing and care

AFIDANCE – delivering classes that celebrate the rich cultural heritage of traditional Afrikan dance and drumming, providing services to organisations that work with young people within communities and schools  

Allotment 23 Apothecary – collective of community herbalists creating and sharing remedies and aiming to address the lack of access to green and growing spaces in urban environments

Bristol Accountability Process – using de-escalation, safe space and accountability training to address root causes of harm in the squatting and vehicle dweller community

Big Hearts ADHD Club – a safe space for children with ADHD and their parents to learn skills whilst also creating social connections and peer support

Bread and Berries – baking quality fresh bread made with nutritious flour to help combat the food desert, unemployment and poor nutrition in Knowle West

Bring Your Culture to the Table – a new group in Knowle West bringing people from different cultures together around food, to create cohesion and tackle poor mental health and food poverty

Bristol Ballroom Community – informal ballroom sessions for queer people of colour, offering a safe space for People of Colour within the queer scene

Bristol East Disabled Society – helping disabled people with loneliness, show where help can be sought for various needs, increase socialising, raise positivity, introduce the option of craft sessions with other groups

Bristol LERO – a new group by and for people with lived experience of substance use and recovery organising yoga, social events and drop-ins and hoping to re-establish a Recovery Cafe

Bristol MC Basketball – using sport to address a number of challenges facing young people in Easton, St Pauls, and Hengrove—areas that often experience high levels of social deprivation

BristolCrips – group of disabled, crippled mad, and d/Deaf people set up in response to the proposed welfare cuts in March 2025, now aiming to address inaccessibility of Bristol venues

BS13 Family and Friends – group of predominantly Global Majority people in Hartcliffe and Withywood, welcoming and supporting new residents to the area

BS14 Global Community POC – a new group connecting, welcoming and supporting people of colour in Whitchurch and Hengrove through sharing information, children’s activities and events

Bushara Women’s Group – practical help, advice, and community-building to address isolation and the lack of accessible information and support for newly arrived refugee and migrant women and families

Chilly Bristol Breakin’ – break dancing sessions to support personal growth of young people of Asian, African, Caribbean and Hispanic descent through fitness, discipline, confidence building and creativity

Cushion – an independent integenerational women led voluntary organisation that supports women who experience/have experienced bullying and harrassment in the workplace due to their gender and race

Hartcliffe & Withywood Community Choir – bringing the community together through song, tackling isolation and improving wellbeing in one of the most disadvantaged areas of Bristol

Hartcliffe BMX Club – working with young people from financially challenged areas, using the BMX club as a method to get kids together, encourage teamwork, personal ownership of green space

Healing in Dub – artists and organisers addressing the lack of consistent, safe and culturally rooted spaces for Black communities through educational, creative and healing events and workshops grounded in dub and roots reggae culture

Holly’s Homesteads – home-based sanctuary offering vulnerable people access to rest, rehabilitation, creative growth, and community support, with a particular focus on marginalised black and brown people who have been failed by the system

Hyphal CIC – addressing the limited access to nature and creative opportunities faced by marginalized communities, particularly those from low-income, migrant, and working-class backgrounds

Latinas in Bristol CIC – Latin American immigrant women addressing the challenges of migration, such as loneliness, cultural adjustment, and the need for a safe, empowering space, through events and support

Lawrence Hill Neighbourhood Forum – working to create more meaningful participation from working-class and racialised communities in local decisions around issues such as housing, public space and wellbeing

Let’s Talk, Let’s Do – peer support meetings, skills workshops and social events for parents and carers in the Ashley and Easton Ward, to tackle the isolation, lack of accessible support and the pressures of raising children in economically disadvantaged circumstances

Local Impact CIC – community boxing sessions in Hartcliffe tackling social isolation, low confidence, inequality, poor mental health, and the risks associated with youth disengagement

Malago Greenway Berry Maze – community garden and maze created using various types of berry bushes in the heart of Bedminster providing a tranquil, relaxing and enjoyable community space for all ages and cultures to reconnect with nature

Max Dixon Foundation – set up in memory of Max Dixon from Knowle West to raise money for bleed kits and knife crime prevention education

Mose Social Rising – addressing the lack of accessible, inclusive, and affirming creative spaces for queer, trans and intersex people of colour (QTIPOC) through a podcast and choir created to uplift and amplify the voices of QTIPOC individuals

Newtown Network – social events designed to integrate the various communities living in Newtown, tackle loneliness and isolation and support mental health and well-being

Queerky – dance events, community socials and festivals for the LGBTQIA+ community, providing a safe space to socialise and connect, celebrating themselves and each other

Sabar Family – community of black artists promoting arts and culture through education, professional practice, development and creative collaborations

South Bristol Sisters community group – Global Majority women organising meet ups and activities to help with mental wellbeing and prevent isolation in Hartcliffe and Withywood

St Anne’s Neighbourhood Group – supporting a multi-cultural neighbourhood group, initiated by friendships between refugee and other global majority women, to have better access and a chance to try out leisure activities in their local community including football sessions for the young people. 

Team Brave – offering free, friendly, football sessions for women and people of gender minorities, to help improve mental health and wellbeing, and enhance their confidence. This year they especially endeavour to reach out to refugee members to join in

The Haven-Land and Community – building peer-led support networks rooted in nature, creativity, and community. Addressing issues including addiction, mental health, social isolation & access to land

The Well – new group creating safe, nurturing, and culturally affirming spaces for Black and Brown disabled mothers to rest, connect, and heal, including creative workshops, sharing circles and healing practices

Trans Resistance Action Network – working for trans liberation and building a community to support trans people and raise awareness of trans rights through social events, workshops, rallies

Trans+ Community Rest – free bodywork, yoga and massage events for marginalised/ underrepresented members of the trans community

Trashegimia The Albanian Heritage – addressing the challenges faced by the Albanian community through activities focused on education, cultural preservation, and community support

VORCH (Village of Recovering Compulsive Hoarders) – a support group for individuals struggling with hoarding addiction, empowering them to make positive choices

Women Union – bringing migrant Sudanese and Arabic speaking women together to break the isolation they are in and empower them to learn how to access local services for them and their families
