Joining Redistro collective
Running a community fund is fun and rewarding but takes a lot of work, so we’re on the lookout for more volunteers to join the collective!
We would especially love to have more hands on deck during our funding rounds. Tasks during this busy time could involve promoting the fund, processing applications, and coordinating shortlisting/ funding panel meetings.
If you’re keen to pitch in but short on time, there are plenty of ways to lend a hand with one time tasks, such as handing out flyers, writing blogs, or helping create social media content and posters.
No matter how much time you have to spare, any support you offer means a lots to us.
If you would like to get involved email us at info@bristolredistro.net
Partnerships and local businesses
We’re reaching out to local businesses and organisations to help us continue supporting the vital work of Bristol community groups. We want to build long-term partnerships with Bristol-based businesses who recognise that wealth inequality and marginalisation harm our communities.
Here’s how you can support:
- Regular financial contributions – providing sustainable funding that allows us to plan ahead, budget for events, and continue supporting grassroots action.
- Access to spaces – offering meeting rooms or venues for our gatherings and events.
- Access to people – connecting us with networks, staff, and communities who share our commitment to equity and justice.
- Spreading our message – distributing our leaflets at your venues or as part of your delivery service. Could you pop a leaflet in with your customers purchase?
Long-term funding commitments are especially powerful, enabling us to plan for the future and strengthen our impact.
FAQs for local businesses
Where does my donation go? Can we choose who we donate to? All donations we receive go into a collective pot. Local grassroots organisers with lived experience of the impacts of inequality – not distant decision makers – then decide which groups receive money. By donating to Bristol Redistro, you’re investing in tackling wealth inequality, strengthening community projects, and amplifying the voices of marginalised communities across the city. We work with a diverse range of groups, so your donation will always support causes that reflect compassion, fairness, and shared values.
What kinds of groups do you support? Small, overlooked community groups (most earn under £2,000 a year) making a huge impact in Bristol. They are run by volunteers, without overhead costs of salaries and offices, and are from communities most impacted by inequality, such as Global Majority, migrant, disabled, working class, queer and trans communities. We provide a full list of groups supported on our website.
How far does my money go? A little goes a long way, £500 can keep a group running for months.
How do I know the money will be used well? Our decision-making process involves a large community of people who are involved in grassroots community groups themselves and have lived experience of the impacts of inequality. They are part of the communities we support and know what’s happening on the ground and how best to tackle issues they’re facing.
Is my donation tax-deductible? Bristol Redistro is registered as a Community Benefit Society. We chose this structure as it allows us more flexibility in what we can support and, as a membership model, is more in line with our values. Donations are not tax-deductible, however, please get in touch to discuss possible options for tax deduction or partnership models. Donations can be made via our Open Collective page.
Can we raise money through a specific channel in our business? Absolutely! Donate a % of profits from an event or product, or set up your own fundraising initiative.
Can our sports team / run club / internal fundraising group get involved? Yes! Whether it’s a sponsored match, a fun run, or a marathon for Redistro, we’d be thrilled.
How will I see the impact? We’ll share stories and updates so you know exactly how your support strengthens Bristol communities.
Will you put our logo on your website? We are committed to keeping our work focused on the groups we support. We also believe that sharing the resources you have is the right thing to do and shouldn’t be motivated by getting something in return. Therefore we don’t promote donors on our website or in our materials.
Do you have any criteria for businesses you work with? We are keen to work with smaller Bristol-based businesses that are socially responsible. This could include cafes, book shops, bakeries, delis, refill stores, caterers, hairdressers and independent shops. We would not work with multi-national corporations or any business that causes harm, for example, we would not work with companies on the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions list (relating to Palestine).
