A new funding model centering relationships, support and sharing resources
We are a collective of six grassroots groups based in Bristol, united by a shared commitment to support and empower our communities. We come from diverse backgrounds, all sharing a passion for meaningful change and making a difference.

We’ve come together through Bristol Redistro to learn how we can create change better collectively. We are raising money together to share between us, whilst also sharing resources, knowledge and connections. This is a new idea we’re trialling for 6 months as an alternative to traditional funding and support pathways that are often limited or restricted.
The Redistro Solidarity Collective are:
- Bristol Black History Tours – deepening our understanding of the unappreciated Afrikan and Caribbean contributions made to Bristol, from a historical, cultural, political and economic perspective
- Dandelion – harm reduction information centre for trans+ people self-medicating with hormone therapy, running regular drop-ins and training for other groups
- The Cause – empowering people, especially young people, to thrive by breaking down systemic barriers through education, vocational training, and networking events promoting unity, equality and opportunity
- We Are More – community allotment bringing people together to connect to nature, support each other and to address the lack of available healthy food in Knowle West
- DET Entertainment – improving access to entertainment, health, work, education and recreation through community events in areas of Bristol where there’s a lack of opportunities
- Abolitionist Healing Collective – exploring anti-oppressive, community-focused care and alternatives to a mental health system that often harms BPOC, disabled, queer and trans people

Our work is often unpaid, driven by dedication to creating safe spaces, offering a range of activities, and encouraging opportunities for those we serve. We are deeply connected to our communities and the individuals within them, understanding that genuine relationships are key to creating real and lasting impact. We believe in being present, listening, and responding to the true needs of the people we support.
While we recognise the challenges faced by many community groups, we see immense strength and potential in working directly within our neighbourhoods. Trust is built through authentic connections, and by working alongside the people we serve, we can respond more effectively to their needs.
We are not from privileged backgrounds, but our shared passion motivates us to put help where it’s most needed. Our collective demonstrates that community-led initiatives—whether registered CICs or grassroots groups—are vital for creating meaningful, sustainable change from the ground up.
We believe that everyone has a role to play in building stronger, more connected communities. Whether you’re part of a group, a supporter, or someone seeking support, we invite you to join us in making a difference. Together, we can build resilience, hope, and positive, lasting change.
